Pheet Custom Orthotics

The current process to deliver foot orthoses is invasive, lengthy and prone to subjectivity. Pheet aims to tackle these issues by proposing a novel approach to bridge the diagnosis and manufacturing process. It does so in two ways; by building a pressure sensitive insole for the collection of dynamic data and software for the analysis.

The current process to deliver foot orthoses is invasive, lengthy and prone to subjectivity. Pheet aims to tackle these issues by proposing a novel approach to bridge the diagnosis and manufacturing process. It does so in two ways; by building a pressure sensitive insole for the collection of dynamic data and software for the analysis.

By combining these two systems we create a close-coupling between the pressure data and the geometric data. The latter is used for manufacture in order to leverage the state-of-the-art multi-material rapid prototyping technology (Stratasys Connex 500). Furthermore, we are able to reduce subjectivity within diagnosis by quantifying foot features, whilst providing non-invasive and faster care to the patient.

Pressure data holds a wealth of information on the biomechanics of the patient which can be extracted through analytical methods.
The final product is informed by the result of this analysis, a 3D scan and any customer requirements such as pain points. Its properties vary not only through material selection but also through its structure.The final system sits between off the shelf inserts and fully custom orthotics.
