A Norwich clinic recently became the first in the UK to manufacture 3D printed insoles, to help with lower limb pain and injury. BxClinic has an in-house 3D printer to manufacture medical orthotic insoles and is running a trial for patients. Clinical director and specialist Ian Sadler stated that materials used to be too brittle and absorbed moisture. Now you can 3D print with materials that can be both soft and hard in the same insole, without taking up too much space. Because of this, they will be able to change how they help patients, including those who suffer from shin splints, knee pain, or bunions. It even goes as far as helping those who may have backaches and hip pain. The clinic is located in Thorpe Road, Norwich. 3D printed shoes don’t need to just be used to improve performance; we can use them to improve physical health as well.
