Source: Formlabs and New Balance Come Together to 3D Print High-Performance Footwear
New Balance returns to the forefront of 3D Printing after being the first footwear company to create a midsole for a running shoe using 3D printing. The company joins forces with Formlabs to develop multiple components for footwear, but the unique situation here is that Formlabs and New Balance are collaborating on the actual printers that will be utilized.
“The relationship between the two Boston-based companies includes the development of footwear-specific materials, as well as printers to create products to improve athlete performance. Production will be powered by Form 2, the best-selling SLA print engine that has already stood the test of printing more than 10 million parts.”
This is probably the most developed use of additive manufacturing taken on by one sportswear company. With this addition New Balance has taken on performance running, baseball and daily jogger footwear with 3D Printing. Use the source link to read more.
