Everyone has their own opinion on new innovations, even something as efficient as 3D printing. Personally, I think it is a great source for creating shoes. On a recent episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kanye West shared some of his likes and dislikes of today’s technology. He even included his opinion of 3D Printing.
While at the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, Kanye explains to a technician that he’s afraid of 3D printing. The Internet is destroying the music industry, so he’s afraid something similar will happen to the textile industry.
Most of his worry comes from how available 3D printing is, and how anyone with a 3D printer has access to 3D printing raw materials. At some point people will be able to make their own shoes at home.
Tumo explained that 3D printed shoes will still require a skilled 3D printing designer. If you look at shoes like the ones of 3DShoes.com, you will see for yourself that not just anybody will be able to create shoes. 3D printing also has many alternative uses, so it will never be anything but helpful.
