Chinese brand Shang Xia is releasing their first sneaker, and it uses 4D technology. The Shunearker comes in two styles. The pastel green 3D printed sole resembles the structure of bamboo, and the limited-edition model has an embroidered silk upper and elasticated knot closure that replaces conventional laces. Shang Xia was established in 2008 to shift the perception of Chinese goods by blending aesthetics with Chinese craftsmanship. The company’s product range includes clothing, accessories, furniture, and jewelry. Two of their products are permanent display at the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Limited to just 66 pieces, the style forgoes conventional laces in favor of an elasticated knot-and-loop closure. The upper boasts silk underlays embroidered with a pattern inspired by the voyages of Zheng He, and explorer from the early Ming dynasty. The second style features mesh underlays and a standard lacing system. Both pairs are available in black and white colorways. The shoes are available online, and Shang Xia’s stores in Shanghai, Beijing, and Paris.
