Recently the collaboration between Carbon and Adidas has taken a huge step in the footwear industry. They have released the AlphaEDGE 4D LTD running shoes, which features 3D printed midsoles, which was created with Carbon’s Digital Light Synthesis. You can get yourself a pair of the AlphaEDGE shoes for $300, which was actually released February 17th at Adidas’ Santa Monica and Culver City stores in California. The partnership between Carbon and Adidas first came into play with the Futurecraft 4D shoes back in April of 2017. They managed to combine Continuous Liquid Interface Production enabled DLS 3D printing, a Speedcell system, and a Smart Part Washer. The technology helped with the development of intricate lattice midsoles that take into account the movement, cushioning, stability, and comfort needs of whoever wears them.

The initial batch of Futurecraft 4D shoes was made available for $300, but later pairs of 3D printed shoes were exceeding the price of $20,000. The AlphaEDGE 4D LTD running shoes are available in core black, grey, and aero and ash green. The midsole is made up of UV-curable resin and polyurethane mixture, arranged in complex lattice structures. These are all things we could potentially see featured products of 3DShoes.com using in the future. Thanks to fast production speeds and demand outpacing supply; Carbon and Adidas are building faster towards the future manufacturing process. Adidas footwear is produced according to the individual needs of each athlete’s foot.
