Imagine having your next pair of shoes come from a liquor company. Bulleit Frontier Whiskey has unveiled the latest collab of its Frontier Works project, a 3D printed sneaker designed by Kyle Steed and manufactured by Tangible Creative. These shoes will be available on Sneaker Politics for $250 starting October 25th. The brand will celebrate the launch with a series of parties at the Ervay Theater this weekend, where Bulleit will be serving 3D printed cocktails. The artist and brand previously partnered in a line for Noble Denim, but this is the first time Steed has been involved with 3D printing. He is known for his bold, abstract designs, and smaller-scale artworks that decorate trendy restaurants and hotels. For this collaboration, he wanted the images on the shoe and the mural to convey a sense of creative community.
The shoe design is a white high-top sneaker without any bells or whistles. The focus of Steed’s colorful design, a patchwork of minimal shapes that recall hands and feet. The artist was skeptical about what the sneakers would feel like, but he was to find that they feel like a normal shoe. You can see the shoes and their mural at the Ervay Theater today, Friday, and Saturday from 7-10 pm. DJ Christy Ray will be there Friday and Yung Wave on Saturday. At 3DShoes.com we look forward to seeing more 3D printed shoes being unveiled.
