The company Carbon has announced a new materials program for high-volume manufacturers and a new resin dispensing system. This program sees Carbon’s 3D printing resins sold in bulk packages with a 40 percent price reduction. The company will be selling its rigid polyurethane material at $150 per liter. Along with bulk pricing, Carbon is releasing its MMD (meter, mix and dispense) resin dispensing system. Developed in partnership with developer Henkel Adhesive Technologies, the MMD is an accessory that dispenses RPU 70 in bulk quantities. The announcement shows Carbon’s intention to use Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) as a mass production technology. With the SpeedCell 3D printing package the company outlines plans in which multiple 3D printers could work for an automated part processing.
Earlier this year Carbon announced a partnership with Adidas to make 3D printing for mass production a reality. With Carbon’s DLS technology Adidas will be able to mass-produce midsoles for 100,000 pairs of Futurecraft 3D shoes by the end of 2018.
